The Space
Named after the celebrated Japanese haiku poet Chiyo-ni, this Shepherd’s Hut is a bespoke, handcrafted cabin, designed with a seamless blend of contemporary craftsmanship and Japanese-inspired aesthetics. Inspired by a visit to Japan, where our daughter lives and works, Chiyo-ni features elements of Shou Sugi Ban—a traditional Japanese technique of wood preservation—creating a space that is simple, organic, sophisticated, and deeply connected to nature.

In winter, the site is shared with just one other hut, while in summer, a handful of Lotus Belle tents are thoughtfully positioned across the meadow, ensuring a spacious and serene setting.
Handcrafted by the renowned Blackdown Shepherd Huts, Alice is clad in solid oak and designed for both elegance and comfort. Inside, you'll find a drop-down king-size bed with luxurious French linen bedding and wool Devon duvets, offering a restful night's sleep. The hot shower is stocked with quality organic toiletries, and the well-equipped kitchen features a fridge and gas hob for effortless meal preparation. A wood-burning stove keeps the cabin cozy, while Wi-Fi throughout ensures you can stay as connected as you choose to be. With robes, towels, and toiletries all provided, everything is in place for a truly restful and indulgent retreat.
